Carl Zeiss Vision Canada Inc. is hiring a Field Service Engineer II Ranger/Traveler to serve as a mobile technical specialist across the United States. You will install, repair, upgrade, and perform preventative maintenance on Carl Zeiss Meditec instrumentation, traveling continuously to customer sites. Your primary goal is to achieve exceptional customer satisfaction while representing the company with the highest professionalism.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair all designated products across multiple service territories through continuous travel.
- Perform preventative maintenance, installations, and upgrades at customer locations nationwide.
- Schedule, create, verify, and modify customer visits across extensive geographic regions.
- Complete and submit daily field service reports from various customer locations.
- Complete and submit comprehensive weekly expense reports covering extensive travel costs.
- Maintain spare parts inventory while traveling, ensuring proper storage and transportation.
- Support revenue growth by promoting and retaining service agreements through continuous customer visits.
- Interface with customers across diverse geographic locations in a professional, pleasant, and calm demeanor.
- Instruct customers on the operation and maintenance of equipment at various locations.
- Maintain company-issued test equipment and support tools, including spare parts, while operating from mobile locations.
- Install and maintain equipment at trade shows, conferences, and customer events requiring nationwide and international travel.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics, Optics, or Medical Field Service with demonstrated travel experience.
- Proven ability to work effectively while traveling 100% of the time with excellent adaptation skills for various environments.
- Ability to think through difficult customer issues and generate satisfactory results while operating independently in remote locations.
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently with limited management oversight across multiple time zones and geographic regions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for remote collaboration and diverse customer interactions.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with mobile technology and remote access systems.
- Ability to pass required training to service fine mechanics and optics.
- Advanced project and time management skills for coordinating multiple territories and travel logistics.
- Valid passport required for international travel.
- Valid driver's license and exemplary driving record.
- Ability to travel extensively in the US and internationally for training, meetings, exhibit support, and coverage across multiple territories with no home base limitations.
- Ability to obtain sufficient credit to cover substantial incurred business expenses which will be reimbursed.
- Comfort with extended periods away from home and adaptation to various accommodations and working conditions.
- On occasion, ability to lift up to 50 pounds while navigating airports, customer sites, and various travel situations.
- Flexibility for weekend and holiday travel as customer needs require.
Nice to Have
- BS in Electronics, Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field.
- A+ and Net+ certification.

This is a local-country position requiring continuous national travel. You can be located in any area to support Northeast, Southeast, Mid-West, South, or Western Regions. Best locations are NY, NE, FL, GA, IL, TX, CA, and CO.
