Ness Digital Engineering is hiring a Field Service Engineer to join its UK service department. This is a home-based, mobile role covering the UK, including Northern and Southern Ireland. You will service sawing and storage equipment, requiring a flexible, field-based approach with travel and occasional overnight stays.
What You'll Do
- Conduct fault finding and diagnosis on sawing and storage equipment.
- Respond to reactive breakdowns across the region.
- Perform planned maintenance and routine servicing.
- Handle unplanned maintenance and component replacement.
- Install and commission new equipment on-site.
- Conduct operator training and handover to customers.
- Complete all necessary administration and reporting.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to work in a mobile, field-based, home-based position.
- A flexible approach towards overtime and overnight stays as work dictates.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, electronics, PLCs (Siemens S5/S7), mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- A high-level technical or professional qualification (e.g., HNC/HND) or demonstrable competency such as an apprenticeship.
- IT literacy.
- Consideration and professionalism when dealing with customers.
- Ability to collaborate with the existing team of service engineers.
- Pride in workmanship, quality, and good attention to detail.

- Multi-skilled background with an electrical bias.

- Basic salary starting circa £30K (based on a 40-hour working week).
- Performance-related pay structure.

- Holiday entitlement: 23/24 days (24 when Christmas Eve falls on a weekday).
