Bechtel is seeking a Field Engineer to join our Engineering, Construction, Procurement & Project Management organization. In this role, you will lead a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning, material management, safety and quality control, and system turnover coordination. Your oversight ensures field activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
What You'll Do
- On a small to medium job, perform the duties of a lead engineer in an area, coordinating a variety of disciplines, or act as a Deputy Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities for an assigned operating section.
- Proactively engage with your team’s development through CPM, competency development and assessment, and feedback.
- Lead a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.
- Coordinate with design teams on constructability issues.
- Direct the preparation of requisitions for field-procured materials, material substitutions, services, and equipment.
- Take responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting, and forecasting.
- Ensure a zero-accident philosophy is implemented and adhered to by craft and others in the operational area, and that tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Coordinate between construction and startup to ensure system walkdowns are performed, interface with startup specialists to support component and system turnover, and assume responsibility for area turnover coordination as required.
- Review and approve inspection test plans.
- Coordinate reviews of subcontractor submittals.
What We're Looking For
- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position. Work locations include Knoxville, TN; Oak Ridge, TN; Ogden, UT; Reston, VA; and Richland, WA.
