The Field Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of engineering activities during the construction phase of a project. This position serves as a key liaison between engineering, construction, and project management teams, ensuring that designs are implemented accurately, safely, and on schedule. The role involves leading field engineering efforts, supporting team development, and ensuring compliance with technical standards, safety protocols, and quality requirements. Field Engineers are responsible for resolving technical issues in real time, managing material workflows, and supporting system turnover to operations. This position is essential to maintaining project integrity, schedule adherence, and operational excellence across diverse project environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering efforts on small to medium projects, either managing a specific area with multiple disciplines or serving as Deputy Project Field Engineer for an operating section
- Support team development through performance management, competency assessments, and constructive feedback
- Lead construction engineering work within a designated engineering discipline
- Collaborate with design teams to resolve constructability challenges
- Manage material procurement, including requisition preparation, substitutions, and equipment coordination
- Oversee quantity take-offs, tracking, reporting, and forecasting for project execution
- Enforce safety standards, ensuring zero accidents, safe equipment conditions, and compliance in operational areas
- Coordinate between construction and startup teams to complete system walkdowns and support component turnover
- Review and approve inspection and test plans to ensure quality compliance
- Manage subcontractor submittal reviews to ensure adherence to project requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
