ProSidian is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Proton Improvement Plan II Project (PIP-II) Construction Administration (CA) at Fermilab in Batavia, IL. This role involves designing, testing, and overseeing mechanical systems and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety standards and collaborating across engineering disciplines.
What You'll Do
- Designing mechanical systems for buildings, machinery, and other equipment
- Developing specifications, selecting materials, and creating schematics
- Developing and designing new mechanical products such as engines, power generators, and machine tools
- Testing and troubleshooting mechanical systems to ensure they are safe and functioning properly
- Supervising the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment
- Overseeing the work of technicians and other engineers
- Conducting research to discover new technologies and to improve existing mechanical systems and products
- Ensuring that all mechanical systems and products comply with safety standards, including those set by OSHA and ASME
- Collaborating with other professionals, such as electrical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the desired standard
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or higher in a related field
- Strong technical skills, including knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools
- Ability to identify and solve complex problems, often working under tight deadlines and within budget constraints
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders
- Ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to achieve project goals
- High level of attention to detail, including the ability to identify errors and inconsistencies in designs and specifications
- Must be licensed in the state of Illinois

- Certified Systems Engineering Professional
- Certified Quality Engineer
- Similar certificates are a plus
