This role is responsible for guiding families through academic planning and college admissions processes, ensuring access to tailored resources and consistent support to meet educational goals.
Responsibilities
- Guide families through academic and admissions planning with personalized strategies
- Build strong relationships with parents and students to understand goals
- Monitor student progress and adjust plans as needed
- Deliver timely feedback and actionable recommendations
- Coordinate with academic advisors and specialists as needed
- Respond promptly to family inquiries and concerns
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and student milestones
- Support families in understanding application timelines and requirements
- Facilitate access to test preparation and extracurricular planning tools
- Provide clarity on university selection and admissions criteria
- Help families navigate financial planning for education
- Organize and lead virtual check-in sessions
- Share progress updates and performance insights
- Ensure families remain engaged throughout the process
- Promote effective time management and goal setting
- Identify and address challenges in student readiness
- Offer resources for personal statement and essay development
- Assist in tracking application submissions and deadlines
- Stay informed about changes in admissions policies
- Deliver orientation sessions for new families
- Encourage student ownership of the academic journey
- Support families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Maintain professionalism and empathy in all communications
- Uphold confidentiality and data privacy standards
- Contribute to process improvements based on family feedback
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in education or counseling
- Two or more years in college counseling or advising
- Direct experience with international student applications
- Background in K–12 education or tutoring
- Familiarity with Ivy League or selective university admissions
- Training in student development theories
- Experience supporting first-generation college applicants
- Knowledge of global education systems
- Certification in college admissions counseling
- Prior success in remote client-facing roles
