Washington University in St Louis is hiring an Expedited Review Specialist to join the Human Resource Protection Office Reserve. In this remote role, you will review all research involving human subjects conducted by WashU faculty, staff, and students, as well as research at affiliated institutions. As a designated IRB committee member, you will conduct and approve expedited reviews for biomedical and behavioral research.
What You'll Do
- Review biomedical and behavioral research studies for compliance with Federal regulations and Institutional (WUSTL/IRB) policies.
- Identify issues that must be addressed to approve research under the expedited procedure.
- Provide justification for expedited classification or refer submissions to the full board committee.
- Communicate with investigators to facilitate the review process, incorporating complex scientific and regulatory language.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current regulations, guidelines, and trends influencing human subject research.
- Provide guidance to research coordinators and investigators preparing IRB applications.
- Provide help services including an on-call phone line and Office Hours.
- Serve as a primary reviewer and voting member of a convened IRB.
- Serve as a resource for other IRB members and perform educational presentations.
- Participate in special projects, development of guidance documents, and/or quality assurance/improvement assessments.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and/or experience that substitutes for the minimum education.
Nice to Have
- A Master's degree.
- Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification.
- 1+ year of work experience in Human Subject Research, Healthcare, Institutional Review Board (IRB), or Clinical Trials.

- Salary Range: $53,100.00 - $90,600.00 annually.
