EMC is looking for an Executive Virtual Risk Control Specialist who will provide expert consultation to our largest and most complex policyholders. In this role, you will complete virtual risk control surveys to assess exposures, identify hazards, and develop impactful recommendations to reduce loss, collaborating closely with underwriting and sales.
What You'll Do
- Complete virtual risk control surveys across all areas where EMC does business, assessing exposures, identifying hazards, and evaluating control adequacy.
- Provide advanced, expert-level consultation to large, complex policyholders regarding their operations and claim trends across all lines of coverage.
- Develop specific, impactful recommendations to reduce exposure to loss based on identified hazards.
- Identify key exposures to loss and recommend solutions or evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.
- Communicate with Underwriting to quantify deficiencies, enabling proper risk selection, pricing, and decision-making on highly complex risks.
- Consult with policyholders to understand service needs and customize consultative services to address loss drivers.
- Identify accounts requiring an onsite evaluation and communicate findings to the appropriate Risk Control Manager.
- Provide updates to Underwriting, Sales, and Claims to improve renewal decision-making.
- Market risk control functions through agency visits and presentations at meetings.
- Provide detailed explanations of business operations, hazards, and controls associated with coverages.
- Deliver advanced training and conduct loss control surveys virtually for current and prospective accounts.
- Identify accounts that would benefit from ongoing or focused short-term service.
- Analyze previous losses and current exposures for large complex accounts to develop appropriate service plans.
- Provide advanced technical expertise and guidance to other Risk Control team members.
- Develop positive relationships with accounts and agents.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a safety, engineering, industrial safety, or fire protection related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Eight years of experience in a risk control or safety role, or related experience.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial, construction, fire, and commercial automotive safety.
- Excellent knowledge of nationally recognized standards and codes, including OSHA, DOT, and NFPA.
- Advanced ability to understand and evaluate risk.
- Excellent ability to identify and visualize potential loss exposures.
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others, as well as independently.
- Advanced ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentation.
- Occasional travel required; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving.

- Prior experience conducting virtual risk control surveys.
- Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional.

- Compensation range: $97,889 - $134,921 or $107,944 - $148,758, depending on geographic location.
