The Executive Director of Technology provides executive-level leadership for the organization’s technology vision and long-term strategy. This individual ensures that digital services, data systems, automation, and infrastructure are secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. Working closely with senior leadership, they shape technology roadmaps that support organizational growth and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with executive leadership to define and implement a multi-year technology strategy
- Set technical standards for reliability, scalability, availability, and cybersecurity across all platforms
- Guide product development teams in establishing technical roadmaps and deployment timelines
- Oversee the planning and execution of system upgrades to minimize operational disruption
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance efficiency or competitive advantage
- Assess current technology assets and propose improvements or new implementations
- Develop strategic plans, policies, and performance metrics for the technology function
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level agreements
- Lead budget planning and oversight for all technology-related expenditures
- Support integration efforts related to mergers and acquisitions
- Recruit, mentor, and supervise technology personnel
- Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive company data
- Ensure consistent attendance, whether working remotely or on-site
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field, along with at least 15 years of experience in technology or business systems. A minimum of 3–5 years in a senior leadership role managing complex technical teams is required. Essential skills include strategic planning, project management, data analysis, problem-solving, and strong communication abilities. Experience in financial services is preferred. An advanced degree is a plus. Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be necessary.
