Muller, Inc. is hiring a Civil Estimator to interpret plans, perform accurate take-offs, and develop cost proposals for site development construction projects. This role is central to preparing competitive bids and supporting our operations teams.
What You'll Do
- Complete take-offs using Trimble Business Center – HCE.
- Evaluate site access, conditions, and propose production levels for proposals.
- Manage the take-off and bidding process for small site package opportunities.
- Manage the take-off and bidding process for Green Infrastructure (Stormwater) installation projects.
- Work with an Estimating Assistant to keep the bid matrix and bidding calendar current and compile backup information for proposals.
- Complete linear take-offs from plans as needed.
- Collaborate with internal Superintendents to evaluate time, materials, and equipment needed for self-performed tasks.
- Prepare proposals for review and build proposal folders with related project backup.
- Identify scope of work, assumptions, and exclusions for each proposal.
- Submit proposals to clients and follow up on their status.
- For successful proposals, hand off the project and proposal to the Operations Team for completion.
What We're Looking For
- A general understanding of construction, from professional experience or education/internships.
- Basic heavy equipment knowledge, understanding which equipment is used for different scopes of work.
- Experience using earthwork take-off software and an openness to using and learning Trimble Business Center – HCE.
- Experience with all aspects of site development, including E&S, clearing, earthwork and excavation, utilities, fine grading, concrete and paving, and stabilization.
Nice to Have
- An associate's or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or an equivalent field.
- Experience bidding Stormwater Facilities and BMPs.
