Ryder Transportation Solutions is looking for an Equipment Manager to join our dedicated transportation team. In this role, you will optimize assets to meet customer requirements, service levels, and financial goals by managing freight and equipment availability.
What You'll Do
- Balance freight and equipment availability in assigned markets according to capacity, customer requirements, and planner needs.
- Manage internal capacity to match freight volume.
- Coordinate equipment pools at customer sites and geographical locations to balance available assets.
- Review daily PM reports and plan with Driver Managers to schedule units for maintenance.
- Communicate with shops, planners, and driver managers to minimize unit and driver downtime.
- Utilize substitute or FLEX resources as needed.
- Monitor exceptions in key metrics dashboards.
- Review and create shop-requested purchase orders under $5K.
- Follow up on ongoing repair orders and requested driver equipment and safety gear.
- Address all equipment breakdowns.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Business Administration, Management, Communication, or Transportation/Logistics.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with asset management.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
- Knowledge of vehicle specifications, customer requirements, and contractual agreements.
- Knowledge of operational forecasting and planning.
- Knowledge and experience with SAM, FIS, SMO, and RIDE.
