SpaceX is hiring an Environmental Technician to implement and maintain our critical environmental compliance programs. This role is responsible for ensuring our manufacturing campus and west coast recovery operations meet all regulatory requirements from agencies like the RCRA, EPA, CUPA, and DOT, supporting SpaceX's ambitious goals.
What You'll Do
- Ensure environmental compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Perform tasks related to RCRA regulatory hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal.
- Monitor and manage levels of hazardous waste at satellite accumulation areas.
- Perform waste removal activities and determinations for new waste streams.
- Ensure all waste is properly labeled and stored according to classification.
- Accurately record and maintain 90-day hazardous waste inventory logs.
- Perform all required hazardous waste and hazardous material storage area inspections.
- Schedule, prepare, and assist in the execution of waste shipments.
- Consolidate and Lab pack waste when appropriate.
- Perform tasks related to spill response and prevention, including clean-up coordination.
- Implement the Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control Plan (SPCC) throughout the facility.
- Order and maintain supplies like spill response materials and waste containers.
- Perform compliance and due diligence audits for SpaceX environmental programs.
- Manage hazardous materials, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
- Perform regular inspections of hazardous waste areas, universal waste, emergency equipment, SPCC, stormwater, and industrial wastewater.
- Support waste minimization activities, risk reduction, and process improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 2+ years of experience implementing and overseeing aspects of an environmental, health, and safety program.
Nice to Have
- Experience managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areas.
- Experience with emergency response crews for material releases.
- Experience using Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Demonstrated strong propensity for hands-on work and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task, manage shifting priorities, and follow through with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a construction/industrial environment.
- Ability to communicate well with technicians and engineers.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- Compensation: Level 1: $24.00 - $27.00/hour; Level 2: $26.00 - $33.00/hour + equity.
