Oregon Department of Human Services is hiring an English Learner Outcomes Program Ed Spec 2(Education Program Specialist 2) Limited Duration/Job Rotation Opportunity

About the Role

The Oregon Department of Education is seeking an Education Program Specialist 2 for a limited duration or job rotation within the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiatives (OEDI). In this role, you will provide technical assistance, coaching, and leadership to improve equitable outcomes for multilingual learners and English learners in Oregon's education system.

What You'll Do

  • Provide coaching, technical assistance, and professional development to districts and ESDs to improve multilingual learner outcomes and implement evidence-based, culturally responsive practices.
  • Create and evaluate tools, guidance, and resources to support districts in implementing progressive interventions aligned with state multilingual learner goals.
  • Administer grants and contracts funded through the English Learners Account, review district plans and budgets, and ensure compliance with laws and accountability requirements.
  • Promote equitable practices, engage community partners, and provide mentorship to strengthen multilingual learner support across the agency.

What We're Looking For

  • A Master's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of education experience in the specialty area under recruitment (e.g., classroom teacher, counselor, itinerant service provider).
  • Two years of leadership experience (e.g., lead teacher, program coordinator or director, school administrator) in the specialty area under recruitment.
  • A Doctorate in Education or related field may substitute for two years of the education experience, but not for the leadership experience.
  • An Oregon Standard Administrative License may substitute for the two years of leadership experience.

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in dual language programs and multilingual education.
  • Knowledge of best practices and local, state, and federal programs related to English language development in K-12 settings.
  • Experience providing advice or technical assistance to school districts, tribes, community groups, or the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with culturally diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, continual change, and heavy workloads.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary: $7,070 - $10,868 monthly (Non-PERS); $7,562 - $11,622 monthly (PERS).
