KIPP NYC Public Schools is hiring an English Language Development Teacher to bring our academic and cultural vision to life. In this role, you will design curriculum, analyze data, and build a classroom community grounded in Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Practices, with a firm commitment to anti-racism.
What You'll Do
- Plan daily lessons and long-term curriculum aligned with KIPP’s academic vision and goals.
- Analyze student data regularly to identify trends and inform your instructional practices.
- Maintain a positive, warm, inclusive, rigorous, and engaging classroom environment.
- Implement culturally responsive classroom management strategies to create a safe learning space.
- Communicate regularly with staff, students, families, and other key stakeholders to build strong partnerships.
- Attend and engage in weekly Professional Development and other Communities of Practice.
- Update student records regularly, including attendance, grades, and behavior data.
What We're Looking For
- A B.A./B.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Meet one of the following: hold a valid teaching credential in the desired subject, be eligible for a Provisional Internship Permit, or be eligible for a Short Term Staff Permit.
- Commitment to the KIPP mission, vision, and to being an anti-racist educator.
- Belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic levels.
- Strong content area knowledge and relationship-building skills with students, families, and communities.
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and colleagues.
- Proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications (Classroom, Hangout, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Ability to learn and utilize instructional technology like Zoom and Nearpod to support in-class and distance learning.

- Experience teaching students with similar demographics to the KIPP Public Schools Northern California student community.
