HENSOLDT is hiring an Engineering Project Lead

HENSOLDT is hiring an Engineering Project Lead to join our Mechanical Systems Engineering department. In this role, you will take full ownership leading the development of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems and subsystems, guiding them from the initial proposal phase through series development and into obsolescence management.

What You'll Do

• Analyze and create mechanical specifications while managing and controlling subcontractors.
• Manage maintenance and change processing for series devices, define work packages, and provide technical guidance for assigned work package managers.
• Analyze existing designs and investigate optimization opportunities for current products.
• Perform 3D design of mechanical parts and assemblies in Siemens NX, incorporating economic considerations.
• Execute and review calculations for strength, service life, wear, dimensions, and weight.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes in close coordination with production teams.
• Safely handle SAP and ECTR systems.
• Create Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including parts lists, drawings, and delivery specifications.
• Conduct technical reviews and check drawing sets, focusing on overall system integrity.
• Support the manufacturing and integration of prototypes and series devices.
• Own cost estimation and scheduling, splitting work packages and independently coordinating the team.
• Take construction and development responsibility for distributed work packages regarding time, cost, and quality.
• Check (supplying, internal/external) interfaces and services, and coordinate project-internal deadlines.
• Check and supplement requirements and specifications documents.

What We're Looking For

• A completed degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable field.
• Long-term experience in the development and mechanical design of mechatronic equipment, devices, and systems.
• Very good knowledge of general design, technology, and process standards.
• Solid and mature experience using Siemens NX, ETCR, and SAP PLM; KeyUser experience is a plus.
• A high level of initiative and the ability to work independently without instruction.
• Strong team and cooperation skills.
• Very good German and English language skills.
• Proven team leadership competence and pronounced soft skills.
