As an Engineering Manager in São Paulo, you'll oversee a team building critical systems that detect fraud, enforce policies, and moderate content across a global marketplace. Your work will directly impact millions of users, from delivery partners to consumers and merchants.
What You’ll Do
- Guide engineers in designing and operating distributed, high-throughput systems that support real-time decisioning at scale
- Collaborate with product, legal, and data science teams to define and execute a roadmap for global safety infrastructure
- Integrate machine learning models into production workflows for automated content classification and abuse detection
- Architect a unified platform that replaces fragmented tools, serving multiple products and regulatory environments
- Mentor engineers in backend systems, AI/ML integration, and cross-service communication across time zones
- Shape long-term technical direction, balancing safety, compliance, and product experience
- Champion engineering excellence, operational rigor, and a culture of accountability within your team
- Partner with recruiting to grow a diverse, skilled engineering team in São Paulo
What We’re Looking For
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years leading engineering teams of 5 or more
- Proven background in distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization
- Experience working across time zones with strong English communication skills
- Leadership approach that blends technical depth with mentorship and strategic thinking
- Adaptability in fast-moving environments and openness to feedback and iteration
- Passion for building inclusive teams and fostering professional growth
Preferred Experience
- Work in Trust & Safety, fraud prevention, or content moderation systems
- Production experience with AI/ML—model serving, feature stores, real-time inference
- Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Go
- Background in platform engineering serving multiple business lines
- Experience operating in multi-country, regulated environments
