Quora is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our Poe Platform Team. You will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and collaborate across functions to deliver high-quality solutions that enhance developer productivity and foster an innovative engineering culture.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing platform engineering team by fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Drive initiatives to improve developer velocity by streamlining workflows and reducing friction.
- Uphold and drive high standards for best engineering practices across Poe teams.
- Leverage the latest AI tools to enhance team productivity.
- Define and align the team’s roadmap with organizational goals.
- Establish processes for operational efficiency and reliability.
- Guide technical design discussions and long-term strategy.
What We're Looking For
- Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's 'coordination hours' (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years in software engineering with proficiency in programming languages like Python and JavaScript.
- 2+ years of experience managing engineers, fostering their growth and professional development.
- Proven experience in designing and scaling systems that enhance developer workflows, such as CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and automation tools.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver scalable, high-quality technical solutions on time.
- Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for tackling challenges, improving processes, and driving engineering excellence.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs, including integrating AI/ML solutions into engineering systems.
- Passion for Quora’s mission and a strong interest in advancing Poe through technical innovation.
- In-depth experience with modern container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform).
- Familiarity with designing and maintaining highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant systems for developer platforms.
- Dedication to keeping up with emerging technologies and trends in platform engineering, AI, and related fields.
