Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers building and maintaining accounting software systems
- Drive engineering best practices including code quality, testing, and system reliability
- Collaborate with product and finance teams to define roadmap priorities
- Mentor engineers in technical and professional growth
- Oversee incident response and resolution for critical accounting systems
- Ensure systems comply with financial regulations and audit requirements
- Manage sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery timelines
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate accounting data across platforms
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve system performance
- Champion observability, monitoring, and alerting practices
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and documentation within the team
- Identify and mitigate technical debt in core financial systems
- Support on-call rotations and post-mortem analysis
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive financial data
- Balance short-term deliverables with long-term architectural goals
- Drive automation in reconciliation and reporting workflows
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Participate in hiring, interviewing, and onboarding new team members
- Represent engineering in cross-team planning and strategy sessions
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Maintain system uptime and data integrity under high transaction loads
- Optimize database performance for financial reporting queries
- Ensure disaster recovery and data backup procedures are robust
- Lead code reviews and uphold engineering standards
