Karbon is hiring an Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

  • Assemble top-tier teams through exceptional hiring, effective onboarding, coaching for growth, and establishing clear expectations with feedback loops.
  • Elevate technical standards by ensuring clean boundaries, sound designs, and high operational excellence.
  • Enhance delivery quality and speed by reducing lead time and change failure rate while keeping customer impact central.
  • Guide the organization toward achieving Continuous Delivery, acknowledging we are not fully there yet.
  • Take ownership of system reliability with the team, including SLOs/SLIs, observability, system health, and blameless incident reviews.
  • Foster autonomy with accountability by aligning goals and decision rights, and promoting strong cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

  • Previously held a Senior+ individual contributor role before transitioning into management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Engineering Management.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading teams to improve quality and speed through technical and process changes.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and data integrity at scale.
  • Skill in planning and delivering sprks with Product and Tech Leads, balancing new work, enhancements, bugs, and maintenance.
  • An attitude that embraces AI and its potential to unlock new possibilities, with examples of personal application.
  • Excellent communication skills across different locations and time zones.
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using AI technology to improve how teams deliver software.
  • Implementation of large-scale technical migrations.
  • Experience transitioning toward continuous delivery.
