eBay is looking for an Engineering Manager to join its Shipping team. In this role, you will lead a team developing the backend systems that power eBay's complex, global shipping platform. You'll be responsible for building and running the highly scalable, resilient services that millions of buyers and sellers rely on daily.
What You'll Do
- Drive the development of high-performance backend systems, ensuring reliability and integration into eBay's shipping platform.
- Lead initiatives that define the shipping architectural vision and improve transaction efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce innovative features that expand eBay's offerings.
- Mentor and support engineers in adopting best technical practices and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to boost performance and interoperability with a global carrier network.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field with 12+ years of experience, or an MS with 10+ years.
- 3+ years of team management experience.
- Proven experience in backend software development.
- Proven ability in architecting and scaling backend systems for substantial user and transaction growth.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Java, C++, or Python, along with knowledge of cloud computing and microservices architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse collaborators.
- Experience managing teams with agile methodology and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
