Lead a growing team of backend, full-stack, and AI/ML engineers responsible for developing and deploying real-time systems in active mining environments. This role is central to defining how engineering operates within a fast-moving startup where software directly impacts industrial efficiency, safety, and scalability.
What You'll Do
- Build and scale an engineering team from the ground up, leveraging your network and proven ability to attract and retain top technical talent
- Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, system architecture, testing, and deployment practices
- Collaborate closely with the CEO to shape long-term technical vision, prioritize roadmap initiatives, and structure the engineering organization
- Oversee end-to-end delivery, from planning to production deployment, ensuring reliability in mission-critical mining operations
- Work alongside product and operations teams to turn complex industrial challenges into scalable technical solutions
- Cultivate a remote-first culture rooted in trust, accountability, and technical excellence
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong fundamentals in distributed systems, algorithms, and system design
- At least 2 years leading engineering teams, with demonstrated success in career development and performance growth
- Proven track record as a technical contributor—writing production-level code at scale
- Technical breadth across backend services, APIs, databases, infrastructure, and experience in AI/ML or computer vision
- Experience using AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, with a mindset oriented toward AI-first workflows
- Background in startups, particularly in early-stage or foundational roles requiring self-direction and resilience
- Strong reputation among peers—engineers who have worked with you are eager to join you again
- Established network of skilled engineers and a genuine passion for recruiting and team building
- Ability to deliver direct, constructive feedback while maintaining team cohesion
- Experience fostering remote engineering cultures that emphasize autonomy, clear communication, and ownership
