Responsibilities
- Collaborate with skilled engineers across Europe and North America within a unified distributed team to build and enhance the product
- Manage reporting relationships within a regional engineering community, overseeing team members across multiple time zones
- Foster close coordination and strategic alignment between teams in France, the UK, and North America
- Champion organizational values, engineering practices, and collaborative norms in the AMER region, especially in Toronto
- Support engineer development by integrating local insights into a global framework
- Recruit, mentor, and supervise software engineers based in North America, primarily in Toronto, with potential for remote roles in Canada or the US
- Set clear performance expectations, deliver ongoing feedback, and guide professional growth
- Create and track career progression using a defined skills and level framework
- Take part in performance evaluations and compensation planning with peer managers, including addressing underperformance
- Assist in integrating new team members quickly and effectively in a scaling environment
- Drive initiatives that span teams or locations to improve engineering quality, processes, and workplace culture
- Contribute to hiring efforts, employer branding, and shaping the local office environment
- Maintain daily collaboration with engineering teams in France and the UK
- Manage time zone challenges with practical and empathetic solutions
- Strengthen trust, communication, and alignment across geographically dispersed teams
- Act as a key contributor to the global engineering culture while leading your team

- You are expected to stay actively involved in code to maintain technical credibility and assist team onboarding
- All engineering staff adhere to the principle of owning both development and operations of their services
- Teams are responsible for building features to production standards, maintaining system health, monitoring, and responding to incidents when escalated
