About the Role

AtkinsRéalis seeks an Engineering Director, Energy to manage all engineering activities for US Nuclear on New Nuclear and assigned engineering projects. This role provides strategic direction and oversight of engineering service delivery, ensuring projects meet their budget, schedule, and quality goals. You will be responsible for technical integration, design authority, and the performance of the engineering team.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all engineering activities performed by AtkinsRéalis US Nuclear on New Nuclear and assigned engineering projects.
  • Manage assigned portions of the engineering project budget.
  • Provide direction and oversight of engineering service and deliverable delivery to meet quality, cost, and schedule goals.
  • Develop and implement approved Engineering Plans for projects or project phases.
  • Oversee overall project design change control and configuration management.
  • Manage technical integration and interface control within the project across disciplines and with the client.
  • Select and review the suitability of design methods, materials, parts, equipment, and processes.
  • Ensure qualified and appropriate staff are assigned work within their experience and skills.
  • Provide coaching to team members and performance feedback to the Project Manager.
  • Execute the Design Authority function as delegated for the project scope.
  • Manage the budget, schedule, and quality of technical deliverables.
  • Ensure final deliverables meet customer requirements and align with nuclear codes and standards.
  • Review and approve key technical documentation.
  • Monitor the technical quality of engineering deliverables.
  • Identify and propose project improvements.
  • Implement security access requirements, including need-to-know protocols.
  • Interface with the Project Director, Procurement Manager, Manufacturing Manager, NSSS Vendor, Design Builder, Construction Manager, and Site Engineering Manager on site engineering matters.
  • Liaise with Project Managers regarding the technical quality of subcontracted engineering services.
  • Liaise with the external client engineering organization on technical matters at the behest of the Project Manager.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years of industry-related experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting commercial nuclear projects.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a similar leadership position.
  • Demonstrated successful management experience.
  • Proven technical and management abilities, including proficient verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to independently and critically review work products from Engineering teams.
  • Ability to constructively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Ability to apply experience and judgment with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Proven ability to successfully implement planning, scheduling, and tracking initiatives.
  • Broad understanding of the challenges of building and maintaining strong multidiscipline teams.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice to Have

  • Senior Reactor Operator License, Certification, or Advanced Plant Systems training.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Commercial Background.

This position offers a hybrid work model. The role is based out of Oak Ridge, TN.
