AtkinsRéalis is looking for an Engineering Director Energy to manage all engineering activities performed by AtkinsRéalis US Nuclear on New Nuclear and assigned engineering projects. You'll provide direction and oversight for the delivery of engineering services and deliverables, manage project budgets, and ensure technical quality and compliance with nuclear codes and standards. What You'll Do
- Manage all engineering activities performed by AtkinsRéalis US Nuclear on New Nuclear and assigned engineering projects.
- Manage assigned portions of engineering project budget.
- Provide direction and oversight of delivery of engineering services and deliverables for engineering portfolio in accordance with quality, cost and schedule goals.
- Develop and implement approved Engineering Plans for projects, or phases of the projects.
- Responsible for overall project design change control and configuration management.
- Responsible for technical integration and interface control within the project across disciplines and with the client.
- Responsible for selection and review of design methods, materials, parts, equipment, and processes essential to safety and performance.
- Ensure qualified and appropriate staff are assigned work within their experience and skills.
- Provide coaching to team members and performance feedback to the Project Manager.
- Execute the Design Authority function as required and as delegated.
- Responsible for technical deliverables budget, schedule and quality.
- Ensure final deliverables meet customer requirements and align with nuclear code and standards.
- Review and approve key technical documentation for projects, or phases of projects.
- Monitor the technical quality of engineering deliverables.
- Identify and propose improvements in the areas of the project.
- Ensure security access requirements including need to know are implemented on a project.
- Interface with Project Director, Procurement Manager, Manufacturing Manager, NSSS Vendor, Design Builder, Construction Manager, and Site Engineering Manager for all site engineering matters.
- Liaise with Project Managers regarding technical quality of subcontracted engineering services.
- Liaise with external client engineering organization regarding technical matters.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years industry related experience.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience supporting commercial nuclear projects.
- Minimum of 10 years in a similar leadership position.
- Successful management experience.
- Demonstrated technical and management abilities, including proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to independently and critically review work products, provide technical guidance, feedback, mentorship, and perform quality control.
- Ability to constructively interact with both internal and external customers.
- Self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal direction and supervision.
- Applies experience and judgment with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
- Proven ability to successfully implement planning, scheduling and tracking initiatives.
- Broad understanding of the challenges of building and maintaining strong multidiscipline teams.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- Senior Reactor Operator License, Certification or Advanced Plant Systems training.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
