Safaricom Limited is hiring an Engineer – CCS & Billing SRE Engineer to ensure the high-quality operation of all billing products and services for its customers, including billing platforms, mediation, and Pretups systems. You will deliver services within established KPIs and provide technical leadership.
What You'll Do
- Uphold the company code of conduct, policies, and procedures, including safety and wellbeing.
- Provide technical leadership and drive excellence in operations support for Enterprise Integration and BPM services.
- Build automated monitoring for Operational KPIs and perform health checks, performance reviews, and daily maintenance.
- Contribute to defining a best-in-class Enterprise Integration architecture and technical evolution roadmap.
- Coordinate production releases, align stakeholders, and review runbooks and change work instructions.
- Lead identification of technical debt and service re-design to fix recurring production issues.
- Plan and document business continuity and disaster recovery readiness for domain services.
- Continuously evaluate system performance, review configurations, and ensure policy and technical compliance.
- Engage stakeholders across business units on continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Maintain reports on team, vendor, and system performance.
- Manage supplier engagement to ensure delivery and 3rd line support objectives are met.
- Conduct one-on-ones, performance reviews, mentorship, and resource scheduling for team members.
- Lead research into new ways of operating, identify automation opportunities, and spearhead adoption of machine learning and AIOps.
What We're Looking For
- A BSc. Degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or IT.
- 5 years’ total experience, with 2 years leading a team of Engineers in a busy IT environment.
- Proficiency in networking protocols – TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.
- Knowledge of Software Engineering methodologies, including Agile-oriented development.
- Working knowledge in Unix systems and Databases – Oracle, MySQL.
- Working knowledge of security encryption solutions – SSL, firewalls, VPN, IPsec.
- Strong experience in programming/scripting languages – Python, Perl, Shell, Java or equivalent.
- Experience with container and scheduling technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
Nice to Have
- Professional certification e.g. CCNA/CCNP or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of 3rd Party RESTful API integration, PHP, MySQL, SQL server, and web services.
