TD Bank Group is hiring an Employee Relations Director, Regulatory and Controls for Europe and Asia Pacific. This role serves as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors on HR governance, compliance, and employee relations. You will work closely with regional HR heads, legal, and compliance teams to proactively manage employee relations, governance, and policy design across these regions.
What You'll Do
- Act as the practice leader and top-level expert within Employee Relations.
- Investigate and oversee investigation of complex employee relations cases including whistleblowing, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and provide guidance on Flexible Working Applications.
- Ensure all employee relations activities comply with employment law and regulations, and that exceptions are within risk appetite.
- Provide high-quality advice on employee relations matters to business partners and HR colleagues.
- Identify training needs and design and facilitate workshops for HR colleagues and line managers.
- Train selected managers to act as hearing and investigatory managers for employee relations processes.
- Horizon scan for changing employment law and propose strategies for TD Securities Europe and Asia Pacific.
- Maintain effective external networks to remain informed about industry best practices and collaborate with external legal advisors.
- Partner with HR colleagues to support and guide organizational change initiatives.
- Identify and escalate issues with broad corporate implications and risks.
- Monitor and communicate the effectiveness of Employee Relations strategies, programs, and practices.
- Manage key policy reviews (e.g., Whistleblowing, Privacy, Family Friendly, Time and Attendance).
- Ensure Employee Handbooks across all locations are up to date and reflect legislative requirements.
- Develop policies, procedures, and practices aligned with the overall Human Resources strategy.
- Review template documents (e.g., offer letters, international assignment letters, settlement agreements).
- Create data analytics and analyze employee relations data to identify emerging themes and areas for improvement.
What We're Looking For
- A university degree in Human Resources, Law, or Business Administration.
- 10+ years of related experience.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in employee relations and HR governance within a highly regulated, multi-national organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external legal counsel.
- Knowledge of attorney-client privilege and how to preserve it in investigations.
- A proven track record of managing complex employee relations issues and leading HR investigations across multiple regions (Europe and Asia Pacific).
- A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, SOX, and SMCR.
- Ability to manage governance and control functions within a matrixed organization.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and manage sensitive matters with discretion.
