About the Role

The State of Vermont is hiring an Eligibility Specialist I to serve our community by determining eligibility for public benefits and providing timely, accurate assistance to those who qualify. This position is located in the Burlington district office and works within the Economic Services Division (ESD) to support Vermonters in meeting their basic needs.

What You'll Do

  • Determine eligibility for applicants based on program rules and criteria.
  • Provide timely and accurate benefits to qualified individuals.
  • Assist customers over the phone and in-person, offering clear guidance.
  • Apply program rules to complex and dynamic real-life situations.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree in a human service or financial field.
  • OR two (2) years or more of experience in a customer service environment that included regular use of computer programs, clerical work, and data entry.
  • All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, DMV checks, and adult and child abuse registry checks.

You will be part of the Economic Services Division (ESD) within the Department for Children and Families (DCF). ESD Leadership is committed to continuously looking at ways to strengthen and support our workforce.

Work Mode
