About the Role

Alabama Virtual Academy, a Stride K12 partner school, is hiring a state-certified Elementary Teacher to deliver specific course content in an online environment. In this role, you will provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs.

What You'll Do

  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
  • Commit to personalizing learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery.
  • Augment course content using prescribed tools under guidance from school leaders.
  • Maintain academic integrity in the grade book and make promotion decisions.
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families through regular, timely communication.
  • Support learning coaches with curricular and basic technical troubleshooting.
  • Monitor student progress through the Stride K12 learning management system.
  • Actively work with students and parents to advance learning toward established goals.
  • Travel as required (approximately 20% of the time) for professional development, testing, and school needs.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to clear a required background check

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with the proposed age group.
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
  • Experience teaching in online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environments.
  • Experience with online learning platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to interpret numeric and graphic student data to drive instruction.
  • Receptive to receiving regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and teaching platforms.
  • Ability to maintain certification and fluency in K12 systems and curriculum.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary: $42,000
  • Opportunity to earn an annual bonus
