Draper is seeking an Electronic CAD Designer to join our team. In this role, you will create moderate to highly complex printed wiring board layouts using inputs from schematic designers and engineering. You will play a critical part in developing new or modified high-density designs, working in a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment.
What You'll Do
- Assist electrical engineers with the design and layout of printed wiring boards (PWBs), interpreting all basic design requirements.
- Work on moderate to highly complex PWB designs and the associated documentation.
- Operate with moderate to minimal oversight from senior technical personnel.
- Provide regular feedback on the effectiveness of processes and work instructions to management.
- Interface regularly with DFM engineers to define and implement fabrication criteria for manufacturability.
- Assist engineers with constraint editing and entry.
- Work with multiple senior technical staff members on design projects.
- Request management assistance when conflicting information is provided by team members.
- Effectively communicate project status and issues to management and project team members as requested.
What We're Looking For
- An Associate's degree or certificate from a two-year technical school in an applicable discipline, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and skills.
- 10+ years of experience in PWB design or technical drafting with specific tools knowledge.
- Detailed knowledge of Mentor Graphics DxDesigner and Expedition.
- Experience with advanced packaging design tools (VX).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D) and CAM350.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Familiarity with industry standards: IPC-7351, JEDEC-JP95, MIL-STD-1835.
- Knowledge of PWB assembly, fabrication, hardware assembly, or hardware testing.
- Ability to follow and adapt to new processes and work instructions quickly.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.
Nice to Have
- Formal education in electronics or electrical circuit theory.
- Experience using advanced packaging layout techniques such as dynamic wire-bond, complex flex, and 3D die stacking.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks.
