About the Role

San Joaquin Valley College Inc. is hiring an Electrical Technology Instructor responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality instruction. You'll ensure student mastery of course outcomes, foster a supportive learning environment, and collaborate on program improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare lessons and course materials in accordance with the college's curriculum, using appropriate teaching methods and resources.
  • Deliver instruction through dynamic and varied instructional techniques to support various learning styles.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment that fosters student engagement and success.
  • Maintain regular and open communication with students regarding their progress, attendance, and performance.
  • Provide proactive academic advising, tutoring, and office hours to assist students.
  • Participate in student affairs activities such as orientation, clubs, and career services events.
  • Regularly assess student learning outcomes and implement strategies to enhance performance and course effectiveness.
  • Utilize student achievement data to contribute to program improvement processes.
  • Stay current with industry trends and academic best practices.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, industry advisory boards, and faculty development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support student success, retention, and achievement of program outcomes.
  • Mentor and support new faculty members.
  • Adhere to institutional, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
  • Document grades, attendance, student advising, and other required information in a timely manner.
  • Participate in programmatic and institutional assessments to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Ensure relevance of instructional materials and facilitate improvements as dictated by academic, industry, or regulatory standards.
  • Ensure classroom and lab equipment is available and in good working condition.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience, education, and/or training in current practices of the subject.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret materials related to area of expertise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations relevant to course material and student assessments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and any software required for course delivery.

Nice to Have

  • Associate degree or higher.
