Nadara is looking for an Electrical O&M Engineer - Specialist to join our Asset Maintenance department. You will be instrumental in ensuring our assets operate safely over the long term by building internal capability for maintaining UK Balance of Plant and turbine HV equipment. What You'll Do
- As a Senior Authorised Person, take responsibility for routine HV switching operations up to 33kV.
- Follow the annual preventative maintenance schedule agreed with the Asset Management team.
- Write risk assessments and method statements to ensure the highest standard of safety for all works.
- Complete annual preventative maintenance on Balance of Plant and wind turbine HV equipment, producing reports with clear photographic evidence.
- Recommend, cost, and complete remedial works to minimise the probability of component failure.
- Maintain a suitable stock of electrical components for efficient repair work.
- Attend site, including out of hours, to respond to electrical failures, establish root cause, and determine safe return-to-operation requirements.
- Work alongside and supervise specialist electrical contractors such as jointers and protection engineers.

- Experience operating HV electrical switchgear on a variety of sites.
- Familiarity with different types of transformers.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and use them to resolve on-site problems.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with suppliers.
- An experienced Senior Authorised Person regularly issuing Permit to Work and Limitation of Access documents.
- Experience operating a wide range of HV switchgear.
- Senior Authorised Person status to at least 33kV.
- A background in Electrical Engineering, whether vocational or academic.
- Familiarity with Single Line Diagrams.
Nice to Have
- Experience writing Risk Assessments & Method Statements for preventative maintenance, fault finding, and electrical testing.
- Experience completing preventative maintenance on HV electrical equipment.
- Experience completing IR, winding resistance, and TTR tests on transformers (50kVA – 3000kVA).
- Experience taking oil samples from transformers (50kVA – 3000kVA).
- Experience locating cable faults.
- Experience with cable jointing.
- Experience completing IR and VLF testing on HV cables.
- Ability to download and interpret information from protection relays and grid analysers.
- Understanding of Overcurrent and Earth protection settings and protection grading on sites.
- Experience issuing Sanction for Test documents as a Senior Authorised Person.
- Previous responsibility for preventative maintenance activities on HV switchgear, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
- Experience finding and resolving electrical faults using a variety of test equipment.
- Previous experience being part of an on-call rota providing 24/7 site support.
- Experience with wind farm, solar, or other renewable generation sites.
- Experience working with cross-boundary isolations.
- Knowledge of Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
- GWO accredited training and experience climbing a variety of wind turbine models.
Team & Environment
You will be a key member of the Asset Maintenance department, part of a team focused on building internal capability for electrical maintenance. You will report to the Electrical O&M Engineer – Specialist.
Work Mode
This is a local-country position based at our site in Inverness. The role requires on-site presence and includes out-of-hours response.
