APAC Mississippi, Inc., a CRH company, is hiring an Electrical Engineer. Your primary objective is to ensure all electrical systems and capital projects are safe, reliable, and compliant, while supporting operational and financial goals. You will drive continuous improvement and maximize equipment reliability and life expectancy at optimum output.
What You'll Do
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Assume responsibility for the maintenance of survey equipment, computer automation hardware and software, and other plant electrical equipment.
- Be heavily involved in PLC additions and requirements.
- Conduct and/or participate in plant meetings regarding operations, safety, environmental issues, and special projects.
- Plan, survey, design, and write electrical specifications; obtain electrical contractors for new and revised projects. Supervise and inspect contractor work.
- Provide miscellaneous engineering assistance for various quarry operations and plant construction projects.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations. Provide associated training as needed.
- Perform field measurements, inventory calculations, and related activities for materials inventories.
- Prepare and submit reports on various engineering activities as requested by plant management.
- Maintain updated plant equipment data files, site maps, drawings, engineering reference material, and records of underground utilities.
- Inspect electrical equipment received at the plant.
- Conduct electrical safety training and inspections as needed.
- Attend RCRA training for waste-derived fuel activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of a 4-year/bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management and familiarity with contractors, within a professional engineering environment and heavy industry.
- Specific office and field experience in engineering design, including programmable logic control (PLC) equipment usage, and construction.
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to effectively negotiate.
- Extensive knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and techniques, especially electrical engineering.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental and safety issues.
- Knowledge of contract management practices and cement and/or lime manufacturing processes.
- Ability to use and troubleshoot engineering equipment such as measuring devices, calculators, computers, and PLCs.
- Ability to use independent judgment in performing daily activities.
- Ability to work under general supervision using specified standard practices and procedures.
