Hormel Foods Corporation is hiring an Electrical Engineer to establish company-wide electrical standards and drive significant capital projects. You will design and supervise control system installations, manage an annual budget of up to $40 million, and coordinate cross-functional efforts across IT, Engineering, and OEM vendors.
What You'll Do
- Establish and implement company-wide standards for electrical systems design.
- Design and supervise the installation of control systems, including developing Requests for Proposals and Bid Packages.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts between IT, Engineering, and OEM vendors to support capital projects and routine process updates.
- Support IT/OT Security Initiatives to improve the security posture of operational systems.
- Plan and execute complex capital construction projects, managing an overall budget of up to $40 million annually.
- Develop and lead projects to address hardware obsolescence and security vulnerabilities.
- Prepare cost estimates, appropriation requests, and all appropriate project documentation.
- Manage assigned projects to ensure requirements are met, and deliverables are on time and within budget.
- Develop project designs that ensure the lowest life-cycle costs and provide highly efficient, reliable processes.
- Ensure projects comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and Hormel standards.
- Apply good engineering practices to ensure personnel and food safety.
- Apply continuous improvement philosophies in all daily activities.
- Utilize engineering training to support innovation and new technology development.
- Travel occasionally to support projects or plant needs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technical field or a minimum of five years of industrial electrical installation and maintenance experience.
- Five years of pertinent experience in the electrical field, plus a technical certification/licensure and management/leadership training.
- A strong pattern of initiative, innovation, and creativity.
- Highly developed leadership skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- A solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the ability to apply it to engineering design.
- Experience developing and maintaining distributed control systems such as FactoryTalk View SE.
- Previously obtained Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification or ability to obtain within 18 months.

Nice to Have
- Experience in power distribution.
- Experience in motor control: Starters, VFDs, servos.
- Experience in lighting systems.
- Experience in low-voltage systems such as fire alarms and security systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- State-issued Electrical License, preferred Journeyman level or higher.
- Professional Engineer license or ability to attain license within two years of hire.
- 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Staff Engineer, Industrial Engineer, or similar role.
