Evidence Action is looking for a Driver to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for our program operations in Balaka, Malawi. You will be a key part of our logistical support, ensuring staff and essential materials, including health commodities, can move seamlessly from urban offices to remote field sites.
What You'll Do
- Safely transport authorized personnel and visitors to designated locations, including remote field sites.
- Securely deliver equipment, health commodities, and official documents.
- Enforce safety regulations for all passengers and ensure vehicle use is strictly for authorized purposes.
- Follow security protocols and stay informed about road conditions and high-risk zones.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections of oil, water, tire pressure, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Monitor mileage and coordinate timely servicing with the Operations team.
- Maintain the vehicle's interior and exterior cleanliness to uphold a professional image.
- Report mechanical breakdowns immediately and perform minor preventative maintenance.
- Maintain meticulous trip records, including mileage, fuel consumption, and travel purpose.
- Manage fueling and reconcile receipts with recorded mileage.
- Swiftly report any accidents or security incidents according to policy and legal requirements.
- Assist with basic administrative tasks like photocopying or filing when driving duties are not required.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of MSCE.
- At least 5 years of professional driving experience.
- Valid and clean driving licence.
- Strong knowledge of local road networks and traffic laws.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Word/Excel) for record-keeping.
- High level of integrity, punctuality, and ability to work in a fast-paced field environment.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Malawi.
Nice to Have
- Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
- Professional driving experience with an International NGO (INGO) or a large corporate entity.
