About the Role
This position supports legal documentation integrity by providing notarial services in compliance with District of Columbia regulations, utilizing both traditional and digital methods to verify and authenticate documents.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an active notary public commissioned in the District of Columbia
- Verify identities of individuals signing legal documents
- Administer oaths and affirmations in compliance with local regulations
- Maintain a secure and up-to-date notary journal
- Perform remote online notarizations using approved digital platforms
- Ensure all notarial acts adhere to District of Columbia laws
- Authenticate documents for use in legal and administrative proceedings
- Manage digital files with attention to confidentiality and retention policies
- Coordinate with legal staff to schedule notarization appointments
- Review documents for completeness prior to notarization
- Apply notary seal accurately and consistently
- Report changes of address or name to the District’s commissioning authority
- Stay informed about updates to notary laws and best practices
- Support process improvements for digital documentation workflows
- Respond promptly to requests for notarial services
- Maintain professional conduct during all interactions
- Ensure secure handling of digital credentials and access keys
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on document lifecycle management
- Track and report metrics related to notarization volume and turnaround time
- Participate in training sessions on compliance and technology tools
Nice to Have
- Experience with electronic signature platforms
- Prior work in legal support or court-related settings
- Familiarity with HIPAA or other regulatory frameworks
- Certification in records management or related field

Compensation
Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience

Hybrid with remote options and periodic in-person notarizations

Part of a specialized legal operations team focused on accuracy and compliance
Application Process
