Penguin Random House is looking for a Director, Recorded Administration for a temporary role from March through July. Your mission is to provide artists and clients with accurate accounting and exceptional customer service, serving as the key internal contact for labels' A&R, Finance, and Royalty Services teams.
What You'll Do
- Set up contract and royalty rate models based on contractual provisions.
- Review artist and third-party contracts to create royalty rate summaries.
- Coordinate with the recorded finance department to ensure the accuracy of costs and venture obligations.
- Calculate and implement royalty adjustments.
- Clear sales, product, and rate calculation errors.
- Research and service inquiries from clients and their teams.
- Work closely with other key departments including legal, finance, and creative & processing teams.
- Support various ad-hoc projects, report requests, and royalty software testing.
What We're Looking For
- Previous royalty experience at a music company such as a label, publisher, DSP, CMO, or similar.
- Background in reading and interpreting contracts, especially related to royalty provisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, with demonstrated ability to use intermediate-to-advanced functions like PivotTables and LOOKUPs.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience with Record Maestro, Curve, SR1, SAP, Python, SQL, or Looker.
- A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Music Business, Accounting, or Finance.
