Penguin Random House is hiring a Director, Recorded Administration

Penguin Random House is looking for a Director, Recorded Administration for a temporary role from March through July. Your mission is to provide artists and clients with accurate accounting and exceptional customer service, serving as the key internal contact for labels' A&R, Finance, and Royalty Services teams.

What You'll Do

• Set up contract and royalty rate models based on contractual provisions.
• Review artist and third-party contracts to create royalty rate summaries.
• Coordinate with the recorded finance department to ensure the accuracy of costs and venture obligations.
• Calculate and implement royalty adjustments.
• Clear sales, product, and rate calculation errors.
• Research and service inquiries from clients and their teams.
• Work closely with other key departments including legal, finance, and creative & processing teams.
• Support various ad-hoc projects, report requests, and royalty software testing.

What We're Looking For

• Previous royalty experience at a music company such as a label, publisher, DSP, CMO, or similar.
• Background in reading and interpreting contracts, especially related to royalty provisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, with demonstrated ability to use intermediate-to-advanced functions like PivotTables and LOOKUPs.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience with Record Maestro, Curve, SR1, SAP, Python, SQL, or Looker.
• A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Music Business, Accounting, or Finance.
