Responsibilities
- Manage delivery across product, engineering, and QA for a team of about ten people, ensuring accountability for what is shipped, how often, and its production stability.
- Stay involved in the technical work by participating in design reviews, reading pull requests, and occasionally writing code, maintaining a deep understanding of the system.
- Run the engineering system by unblocking dependencies, eliminating ambiguity early, and keeping the path from decision to production short and straightforward.
- Make reliability a built-in property of the platform through uptime, error budgets, and a sustainable on-call rotation for a small team.
- Scale the platform supporting the pricing business, including high-volume ingestion, event pipelines, and APIs serving hundreds of locations across a dozen booking channels, with more expected.
- Own the API surface as a product, managing partner integrations, access-control systems, third-party channels, and internal applications, including versioning, contracts, deprecation, and documentation.
- Turn integrations into a repeatable pattern so that each new channel or access-control vendor is cheaper to add than the last, addressing current inefficiencies.
- Bring engineering rigor without ceremony by implementing CI/CD, environments, testing strategy, and observability that speed up a small team rather than slow it down, and remove processes that cost more than they return.
- Partner with the AI team on the surfaces they depend on, such as data capture, event ingestion, and model serving, ensuring the platform is dependable and instrumented.
- Sequence the roadmap honestly by surfacing tradeoffs early and clearly saying no when something cannot be done well within the available time.
- Hire deliberately as the team grows from its current size to about ten, ensuring each hire visibly impacts output, setting the bar, running the hiring process, and developing existing team members.
