North Park University is hiring a Director of Sponsored Projects

Lead the advancement of sponsored research at a values-centered institution by shaping a strategic approach to external funding. As Director of Sponsored Projects, you will work closely with academic and administrative leadership to strengthen grant acquisition, from concept through submission, while ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to create and execute a strategic framework for identifying and pursuing sponsored project opportunities.
  • Guide faculty and staff through the grant development lifecycle, offering expert input on proposal content, budget design, and submission requirements.
  • Establish and manage a structured grant pipeline, including training workshops, individualized coaching, and internal review protocols to improve proposal quality and success rates.
  • Oversee institutional compliance with federal regulations through coordination of review committees such as IRB and IACUC, ensuring proper documentation, training, and policy adherence.
  • Serve as the official Authorized Organizational Representative, responsible for final submission of proposals to sponsor portals.
  • Develop and maintain policies related to sponsored projects in partnership with academic and financial offices.
  • Track deadlines, funding outcomes, and institutional trends, producing regular reports for leadership review.
  • Partner with the Business Office to support effective post-award management in line with Uniform Guidance and sponsor-specific requirements.

Work Environment

This role operates in a hybrid model with historical on-campus expectations in Chicago. Flexible remote arrangements are available, and fully remote work may be considered for highly experienced candidates located outside the local area.

Compensation and Culture

The salary range is $65,000 to $75,000, adjusted based on experience and qualifications.
