About the role
Appfire is seeking a talented Director of Product Management, responsible for maximizing the business and customer impact of one or more applications. This role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives on understanding and optimizing interconnected systems within a business while also being unafraid to engage hands-on when necessary. The ideal candidate will prioritize long-term, sustainable solutions over quick tactical fixes, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The Director leads and develops Product Managers, sets clear priorities across competing initiatives, and partners with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable growth, customer value, and operational efficiency. You will report to the Vice President of Product Management and be a member of the Product Management organization at Appfire.
Please note that this role is part of a team that crosses differing time zones, so reasonable schedule flexibility is required on a daily basis.
Your everyday tasks will include:
Systems Thinking: Develop and implement product strategies that address business challenges through comprehensive systems and processes, ensuring all parts of the business are considered and optimized.
Strategic Product Management: Define the product vision and roadmap, focusing on long-term goals and ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
Portfolio Management: Align multiple product investments to company goals, market opportunities and financial targets
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the organization, including engineering, operations, and customer support, to create solutions that address pervasive problems in target markets.
Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of product managers, encouraging a culture of deep thinking and problem-solving.
Hands-On Engagement: While maintaining a high-level strategic focus, be willing to roll up your sleeves to dive into specific problems, offering both leadership and practical solutions.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data and analytics to inform product decisions, ensuring they are backed by comprehensive analysis and insight. Understands key SaaS benchmarks and how to use them to make product decisions.
Skills and experience you'll need to succeed:
Experience: Proven strong and solid hands-on experience in product management, with a significant portion in a leadership role. Demonstrated experience in applying systems thinking to complex business challenges. Portfolio management experience is a plus.
Strategic Vision: Proven ability to develop and execute product strategies that align with long-term business objectives.
Leadership Skills: Experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring product managers, with a focus on developing strategic and systems-oriented thinking. Guide product managers in defining problems, validating solutions, and delivering customer and business value.
Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of the technical aspects of product development, with the ability to engage with engineering teams at a deep level.
Problem-Solving: A track record of solving complex business problems through innovative and sustainable systems, rather than short-term tactics.
Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Hands-On Approach: Willingness to dive into details and work hands-on when needed to drive product success.
Nice to have: Experience managing products at different lifecycle stages simultaneously and operating in scaled or multi-product organizations with more than 50 products
