Role Overview
As Director of North Europe HSQE - Global Services, you will lead the strategic direction and governance of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment across the Services business in North Europe. Reporting to the Global Services HSQE Vice President, you will ensure alignment with international standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate objectives while advancing a culture rooted in zero harm and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a scalable, region-wide HSQE framework that supports business growth across O&M and Asset Management operations
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate the regional HSQE leadership team, ensuring consistent practices and strong governance
- Oversee compliance with applicable legislation, internal policies, and management systems including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, and ISO55001
- Develop and implement risk-based strategies to identify, assess, and control HSQE risks across personnel, contractors, and environmental domains
- Conduct thorough incident investigations, root cause analyses, and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented
- Design and manage a continuous improvement program using audits, performance data, and feedback mechanisms
- Integrate HSQE into core business processes, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals and ESG commitments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed quality assurance and control practices across service delivery
- Support due diligence and integration activities for new acquisitions within the region
- Represent the organization in national and international industry forums related to HSQE standards and best practices
- Develop and lead a customer-facing HSQE forum to strengthen risk collaboration beyond contractual boundaries
- Ensure timely reporting of HSQE performance, incidents, and trends to executive leadership and global stakeholders
- Utilize ERP systems and data analytics tools to monitor incidents, predict risks, and drive proactive interventions
- Standardize procedures across countries to ensure consistency, efficiency, and regulatory readiness
- Champion employee engagement in safety initiatives and promote recognition for safe behaviors
- Maintain an up-to-date repository of regional HSQE regulations and ensure effective dissemination across teams
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven track record leading HSQE functions in the renewable energy sector, particularly in wind, solar, or battery storage operations
- Experience implementing risk-based maintenance and management systems aligned with business objectives
- Strong background in root cause analysis and leading high-profile incident investigations
- Familiarity with ERP platforms for incident tracking, data mining, and performance reporting
- Recognized safety qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- Professional membership in a recognized institution (e.g., CMIOSH, IEMA, IIRSM, or ASSE)
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in occupational health and safety or a related field
- Valid driving licence; GWO BST/BTT certifications where applicable
- Project management experience and knowledge of lean methodologies are considered advantageous
