Lead the evolution of a next-generation platform that empowers underwriters through AI augmentation and intelligent orchestration. As Director of Engineering for the Core Product team, you'll play a pivotal role in defining technical direction, scaling systems, and aligning engineering execution with strategic business outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Define long-term architectural vision and guide the evolution of scalable, resilient systems
- Establish engineering standards, development practices, and cross-functional collaboration rhythms
- Translate product goals into technical roadmaps, ensuring delivery of impactful features
- Drive operational rigor through metrics, monitoring, and disciplined iteration
- Scale cloud-native infrastructure leveraging serverless components, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems
- Make strategic tradeoffs to balance innovation, quality, and speed in a growing organization
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with deep technical breadth
- Minimum of 3 years managing engineering teams, including experience leading managers
- Proven ability to scale engineering organizations and complex technical platforms
- Strong foundation in system design, distributed computing, and cloud architecture (EC2, Lambda, and modern serverless environments)
- Track record of delivering large-scale initiatives with measurable business impact
- Skilled at recruiting and developing top engineering talent
- Comfortable experimenting, measuring results, and refining approaches rapidly
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $215,000 – $295,000 USD. Includes significant equity options and a 401(k) plan with full employer match, regardless of employee contribution. Medical, dental, and vision insurance fully covered for employees and their families.
