Rula is looking for a Director of Cloud & Platform Engineering to provide strategic leadership and technical direction for our cloud infrastructure and platform services. In this fully remote role, you will lead and scale our SRE and Core Platform Services teams, champion a DevOps culture, and help us adopt a new Developer Experience capability. Your work will be critical to ensuring our platform's reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency as we advance our mission to make mental healthcare accessible.
What You'll Do
- Lead and scale the SRE and Core Platform Services teams.
- Shape the strategy, structure, and technical direction of cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency across Rula’s platform.
- Promote a DevOps culture and help the organization adopt a new Developer Experience capability.
- Deliver world-class developer experiences, modern DevOps practices, and resilient core services.
- Set vision, mentor managers, and drive execution on complex engineering initiatives.
- Provide overall oversight for projects within your domain, making appropriate risk-based tradeoff decisions.
- Partner closely with Product, Application, Data, and Security teams.
- Collaborate across other engineering leaders to drive the best overall outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years in software engineering.
- 10+ years in engineering leadership roles as a people manager.
- 10+ years leading DevOps, SRE, Developer Experience, Infrastructure and/or Platform Engineering teams in a SaaS environment.
- 8+ years working with cloud providers, with a primary focus on AWS.
- Experience managing managers.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling cloud-native tooling and frameworks in modern cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Experience leading teams that build high-quality, user-friendly internal tools, SDKs, and/or engineering empowerment services tools.
- Experience directly managing or tracking projects with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud cost management / FinOps.
- Experience with implementing and driving a DevOps culture and associated practices.
- Proven success of ownership of cloud architecture & environment management.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in mature startups or scaled engineering organizations (> 150 engineers).
- Prior experience working in a HIPAA compliant or other similarly regulated environment.
- Responsibility for managing and delivering an amazing developer experience through tools, frameworks, and processes.
