The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the modernisation and transformation of Veezu’s cloud infrastructure and deployment processes, with full ownership of platform architecture, system reliability, and engineering culture. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, this role plays a strategic part in shaping the technical direction of the company’s cloud strategy and enabling rapid innovation across teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead a major strategic initiative to consolidate deployment platforms (from Heroku, Vercel, AWS) into a unified, modern and simple infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
- Take ownership of cloud infrastructure, improving architecture, reliability, security, scalability, and cost-efficiency for a platform handling millions of requests hourly.
- Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, enabling the engineering team to ship features faster and more safely.
- Define and implement a standardised monitoring and observability stack to ensure system health and rapid incident response.
- Champion and contribute to defining the team’s culture of automation, openness, curiosity, and strong communication.
- Lay the foundations for a modern engineering platform powering one of the UK’s largest mobility services.
- Play a key role in hiring and onboarding future team members as the team grows.
- Be committed to maintaining our ISO27001 certification and set high standards for Information Security compliance.
What We're Looking For
- Mastery of Infrastructure as Code with Terraform is a must-have.
- Deep experience designing, building, and scaling resilient cloud infrastructure, preferably within a Microsoft Azure environment.
- Proven track record of managing high-volume systems that handle millions of requests, with a strong sense for how technology drives business outcomes.
- A strong business sense combined with the ability to make sound technical trade-offs that maximise impact.
- DevOps or Platform Engineering experience at a senior level, in cloud architecture, CI/CD, and systems design.
- Confidence working in and migrating from multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Heroku, Vercel).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a drive to challenge and improve existing systems.
- Be committed to maintaining our ISO27001 certification and setting high standards for Information Security compliance.
Nice to Have
- Experience managing infrastructure for payment processing or other high-security systems is highly desirable.
