StartOut is looking for a part-time Development and Operations Associate to ensure the long-term sustainability of our mission by supporting high-impact fundraising campaigns and internal operations. Supervised by the Chief Development Officer, you will be instrumental in developing strategies, managing projects, and supporting the team’s administrative functions.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate, and execute development activities, partnerships, and events.
- Support grant applications by researching opportunities and writing compelling draft narratives.
- Assist in managing partner relationships by tracking goals, donations, tasks, and revenue.
- Update development materials such as pitch decks, sponsor documents, invitations, and cultivation touchpoints.
- Work with the Systems Manager to build and maintain Salesforce pipelines, reports, and dashboards for the Development team.
- Track and update critical data including sponsorship revenue, event guest lists, Board Members’ annual give-get goals, and renewals.
- Provide administrative support for the Development team at large.
- Manage customer service for general organization inboxes, responding to inquiries and directing communications appropriately.
- Provide administrative support to leadership, including scheduling, notetaking, and preparing documents and expense reports.
- Electronically code and file expense receipts and revenue documentation for the bookkeeper and Director of Operations.
What We're Looking For
- An organized and detail-oriented background.
- Proven skill in distilling complex information into compelling, easily digestible narratives; experience writing grant narratives.
- Proven organizational, time, and task management skills, including the ability to prioritize work and deliver quality products on time.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- A commitment to outstanding internal and external service.
- Demonstrated flexibility amid change, with the ability to juggle multiple deliverables and adapt to new situations.
- Awareness and support for StartOut’s mission and vision.
- Experience working with and/or commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.
- One-to-two years of successful experience in fundraising in a development program or comparable charitable organization and/or high-level sales, preferably in financial services.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, business development, organization, and computer skills, including proficiency in Google and MS Office products.
- Applicants must be based in the contiguous US.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency with Salesforce (or a similar database system).
- Corporate fundraising experience.
- Understanding of the entrepreneurship and venture capital ecosystem.
- Experience organizing Google Drive.
- Knowledge of using AI to augment work.
