HENSOLDT is looking for a Designated System Safety Engineer (DSSE) to coordinate safety and environmental compliance, execution, and documentation for assigned systems and development products. You will play a central role in coordinating experts across teams to provide consulting and assessments for military and civilian systems.
What You'll Do
- Independently deliver demanding projects on time, budget, and quality using modern methods and tools.
- Coordinate services in product and environmental safety to ensure compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
- Support effort estimation for safety and environmental requirements during project bid phases.
- Coordinate and manage the services of subject matter experts in required safety disciplines within projects and bids.
- Advise development and project management on legal requirements and obligations for respective products.
- Conduct safety analyses and risk assessments with other experts.
- Create project-specific System Safety Plans and ensure their implementation.
- Lead analysis, determination, and maintenance of relevant product and environmental safety requirements with other experts, supporting verification and validation.
- Consolidate and track legal/contractual system safety requirements and summarize activity results in reports.
- Coordinate product monitoring activities regarding hazard analysis and risk assessment and manage required actions.
- Support the strategic expansion of product safety services and optimization of Product Integrity processes.
- Support the further development of work processes and tools and participate in internal standardization meetings.
What We're Looking For
- Completed technical degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Safety Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture).
- Long-term professional experience in product safety and/or other safety disciplines, preferably in a military environment.
- Several years of in-depth experience and knowledge in EU conformity processes; training as a CE coordinator.
- Solid knowledge of relevant legal regulations, applicable safety standards, norms, and guidelines.
- High process and methodological knowledge for coordinating and conducting risk analyses; good knowledge of Hazard Tracking Systems and Requirements Engineering.
- Knowledge of common tools like DOORS and JIRA.
- Secure handling of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical-conceptual thinking skills, goal- and solution-oriented mindset, and high understanding of complex, overarching relationships.
- Service orientation, pronounced advisory skills, and strong communication skills.
- Negotiation-level German and fluent English skills, spoken and written.
- Willingness for occasional business trips.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge in occupational safety, fire protection, functional safety, and/or ergonomics analyses.
- Willingness to learn new topics.
