BetterHelp, through TensorOps, is hiring a remote Design Project Manager to act as the owner representative for hyperscale data center projects. You will direct the complete design process from concept through construction documents, ensuring complex designs are executed flawlessly in the field.
What You'll Do
- Direct the end-to-end design process from concept through Issued for Construction (IFC) documents, aligning deliverables with schedule and budget.
- Lead integration between CSA, MEP, ICT, and Security disciplines to ensure 100% design integration and zero spatial conflicts.
- Assist in technical review of long-lead equipment submittals for structural and architectural readiness.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the owner, Architect of Record, and General Contractor, leading design reviews and presenting progress to executives.
- Prepare and present technical status reports and PowerPoint decks for client leadership and site management.
- Ensure all site-level design changes comply with owner standards, building codes, and mission-critical requirements.
- Manage technical review of RFIs and submittals, coordinating with consultants to prevent construction bottlenecks.
- Identify design-related risks and lead cross-functional teams to develop rapid, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Utilize Revit/Navisworks for real-time clash detection and resolution.
- Lead Value Engineering workshops to identify opportunities for cost optimization and schedule acceleration.
- Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) for design accuracy and code compliance, supporting commissioning teams.
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years of professional experience in engineering design and construction oversight.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly preferred or required.
- Strong background in data center development or similar mission-critical/industrial environments (e.g., power plants, hospitals).
- Proven ability to coordinate between multidisciplinary disciplines in a high-pressure construction environment.
- Expert-level proficiency in reading and interpreting structural drawings, site plans, and specifications.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office and experience with construction software like Procore, CxAlloy, or Bluebeam.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional certification.
Nice to Have
- Direct experience with AWS, Google, Microsoft data center design standards.
- Experience in Design-Build project delivery models.
- Lean Six Sigma or LEED AP certifications.
