Sierra Studio is hiring a Design Engineer to turn complex AI capabilities into intuitive merchant experiences for our social commerce platform. You will own the look, feel, and flow across merchant and super-admin surfaces, crafting dashboards and interaction patterns that drive revenue.

What You'll Do

Own the merchant and super-admin experience across a React/Next.js app from campaign setup to real-time conversation monitoring.
Ship pixel-perfect, accessible UI with clean component architecture, thoughtful motion, and responsive behavior.
Build sophisticated dashboards for campaign performance, conversation analytics, attribution, and time-range or filter drill-downs.
Define AI interaction patterns like quick actions, suggestions, and NL prompts that non-technical users love.
Prototype fast in Figma and code, moving from rough sketches to production with product and backend partners.
Raise frontend quality bars on performance, state management, testing, instrumentation, and UX standards.

What We're Looking For

3+ years as a Design Engineer or Frontend Engineer with strong design instincts, or a designer-turned-engineer.
Proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, plus modern state management patterns.
Strong visual and interaction craft where detail, motion, and precision matter.
Real-time UI experience with websockets, live updates, complex state, and optimistic UX.
Data visualization for analytics and BI, including charts, tables, time series, cohorting, and drill-downs.
A portfolio showing shipped B2B SaaS or commerce-grade UI.
Clear English communication and a collaborative, low-ego style.
Ability to join monthly in-person working sessions in Venice, CA.

Nice to Have

Experience with design systems and component libraries, including tokens, theming, and docs.
Background in attribution or analytics platforms.
E-commerce or martech background with knowledge of Shopify or Stripe concepts.
Performance tuning in large React apps, covering profiling, memoization, hydration, and streaming.
Accessibility expertise with keyboard flows, ARIA, contrast, and audits.
Experience with LLM or agentic UI patterns in commerce, such as suggestions, quick actions, or NL-to-query.
