About the Role

UT Southwestern Medical Center is hiring a Department Data Analyst, Sr. to join our Center of Nurse Excellence, Magnet® Program & Nursing Research Department. In this role, you will support projects and research studies through database development, data management, and building reports and dashboards.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as primary data steward for all department databases, source systems, and data structures.
  • Abstract, analyze, and interpret data, providing recommendations for departmental leadership and institutional business users.
  • Ensure data and reporting accuracy across department functions, setting processes for ongoing data validation.
  • Manage departmental projects and serve as primary contact for all reporting and data mining tasks, defining project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Assist Department Data Analysts of lower status with data needs and project coordination.
  • Act as technical lead and subject matter expert for all source data systems relevant to department operations.
  • Serve as lead technical contact for relevant data points and source systems for institutional projects and platforms.
  • Coordinate data preparation and submission of documents to federal and state agencies, and private research funding organizations.
  • Manage data mapping and architecture across department data fields and relevant source systems.
  • Lead the development of education and training tools on data generation, statistical analysis, and interpretation for team members and partners.
  • Perform duties which may include interacting with patients or research participants, or maintaining related records.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Information Management, Healthcare Information, Statistics, Business, or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of data management or analyst experience, preferably in a clinical or healthcare-related field.
  • A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree.
  • Familiarity with scientific terms in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related fields.
  • Experience working in a clinical or healthcare-related field.
