Pacific Life is looking for a Deal Pricing Actuary to join our Savings and Retirement Deal Pricing team. You will be responsible for producing fees and premiums for global markets across bulk annuities, individual retirement products, and savings & protection benefits.
What You'll Do
- Take ownership of existing pricing tools, produce pricing quotes, and implement upgrades.
- Identify inefficiencies in pricing processes and controls and implement improvements.
- Understand the impact of macroeconomic assumptions on pricing and obtain investment data.
- Understand drivers of capital requirements for S&R products across different reinsurance structures.
- Work with the insurance pricing team to understand benefit structures and develop the insurance basis for transactions.
- Follow investment markets, translate changes into pricing impacts, and agree on investment assumptions with asset management.
- Work with the client solutions team to develop propositions and build strategies to manage financial risks.
What We're Looking For
- Strong technical skills to build and run actuarial models, including pricing tools.
- Ability to work independently to review model outputs, understand drivers, and sense-check results.
- Ability to work in a flexible, dynamic team environment with occasional high-pressure deadlines and build relationships across teams.
- Strong experience with Excel and actuarial modelling software like Tyche.
- Good general understanding of market risks and their impact on insurance capitalization.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex actuarial concepts to various audiences.
Nice to Have
- Recently qualified actuary and a member of the IFoA or SOA.
- Broad understanding of modelling mortality and/or market risks.
- Experience of transactions and/or pricing work.
- Understanding of Pension Risk Transfer markets.
- Understanding of life insurance company balance sheets and capital and profit reporting regimes.
- Programming experience including VBA & Tyche.
