Coopers iET AG is looking for a Database Performance Engineer - PostgreSQL to optimize database systems for a client in the banking sector. Your focus will be on analyzing workloads, conducting performance experiments, and delivering recommendations to enhance scalability and maintainability.

What You'll Do

Analyze ingestion and transformation workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies
Evaluate the use of Citus versus native PostgreSQL features, especially in single-node setups
Conduct performance experiments comparing columnar and row-based storage
Optimize query planning, indexing, parallelization, and memory and I/O usage
Develop improved ingestion and transformation patterns using PostgreSQL and Citus features
Set up and enhance observability tools (e.g., pg_stat_statements, auto_explain, pgBadger)
Deliver actionable recommendations to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability

What We're Looking For

Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals and query handling
Strong understanding of database performance, data management, and SQL optimization
Experience with analytical workloads and update-heavy scenarios
Hands-on experience designing and interpreting performance experiments
Familiarity with observability tools and performance metrics
Strong SQL and data modeling skills
Fluent in English
