What You'll Do
Provide remote database administration services to customers worldwide, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of their database systems. You'll proactively monitor environments, conduct regular health assessments, and generate reports to maintain optimal operation.
Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Develop and refine internal tools and processes that enhance service delivery across the Remote DBA team. Contribute to community engagement through technical writing and participation in forums.
Support customers on cloud platforms, including setup, configuration, and ongoing management. Respond to incidents as part of an on-call rotation to meet service level commitments. Work assigned shifts—preferably Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday—to ensure continuous coverage.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with MariaDB, MySQL, and related database technologies
- Strong ability in writing and optimizing SQL queries
- Familiarity with database architecture, administration, and high availability solutions
- Proficiency with backup tools such as mydumper, MariaDB Backup, Xtrabackup, and mysqldump
- Experience in 24x7 support environments with solid troubleshooting capabilities
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote setting
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Background in Linux or Windows system administration
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Go
- Prior support engineering experience with MariaDB, Percona, or MySQL
